Oreno toscana 2019
HK$700.00 inc. tax
Type: Red Wine.
Vintage: 2019
Grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit verdot
Origin: Tuscany, Italy.
Description: Fermentation and skin maceration at a controlled temperature for about 25 days with frequent pumpovers.
Aged in French oak barrique for 18 months and 12 months in bottle.
Oreno was first created in 1999 by Dr. Antonio Moretti Cuseri, an avid winelover, who, during his frequent travels, was impressed by the elegance and finesse of Bordeaux grapes, so much so, that he decided to plant the varieties at his own estate. He grafted established vineyards with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot, which adapt extremely well to the terroirs of Tuscany. The name Oreno comes from a stream that crosses the estate, precisely in an area rich in clay, where our Merlot vines grow. Our Cabernet grapes are planted to soils more suited to them, in vineyards that have a greater presence of pebbles, which ensure excellent drainage and self-regulate based on temperature and humidity. The perfect complement to the blend is Petit Verdot, traditionally used to add spicy notes and a more intense flavor. While the wine is inspired by Bordeaux blends, it has a strong Tuscan soul.
Oreno is made by Tenuta Sette Ponti. This Vineyard was described in 1716 as a “quaility vineyard” by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, and used as a landscape by the great Leonardo da Vinci for his famous Mona Lisa.
Tasting notes: Fantastic aromas of blackberries, currants, minerals, violets and graphite. Full-bodied with firm, silky tannins that are incredibly polished and intense, yet ever so refined and integrated in the wine. It goes on for minutes. The is one of the best modern-day Orenos so far. Best in 2025 and onwards."
