Description: Faustino’s philosophy is in the control of its own creation, since the seed of that first vine was planted more than 150 winters ago. In this era, Faustino owns more than 650 hectares planted in the best locations in Rioja, which makes them one of the largest vineyard owners of the whole appellation. A piece of each year´s history has always been kept and saved as a message in a bottle to remember its identity, to remember the difficulties that made Faustino stronger year by year.
Today, this Bodega is pleased to show to the world its legacy. While we are not the first wine producer in the world, nor the oldest winery, we are one of the few to be proud of its evolution. We work with the unique style of Faustino I Gran Reserva, a blend-based Tempranillo that over the years has expressed its character, and still nowadays represents excellence. This wine produces unique vintages in great conditions, from 1955 to 2009, passing through time but keeping its character.
Bodegas Faustino owns about 650 hectares of vineyards in the best areas of the DOCa Rioja, in the municipalities of Laguardia and Oyon, and it is one of the largest owners of vineyards in Rioja.
Tasting Notes: Clean, bright with medium-high robe. It's very strong and complex, with ripe fruits, spicy and toasted hints due to its barrel ageing, such as ceddar, cidar box or blonde tobacco. The wine has very good structure, smooth and strong, nice tannin on the palate. Good acidity, elegant and very balanced. Pleasant barrel hints with long finishing.
Food Pairings: Pairs well with barbecued meats, seared tuna and high-fat cured cheeses.
